Not only does it open your chest and shoulders, but it also lengthens your hamstrings and your spine. I’ve watched private clients improve their posture with help from practicing this 2 to 3 times a day.

poplipps:

I have had severe bursitis in my hip for 8 years now and it will not go away. I've been avoiding exercise & gaining wait since the injury to my hip. Can you recommend any moves that will help to relieve the inflammation in my bursa? Are there any videos online showing how to relieve hip bursitis using yoga? I'm desperate for help; I'm sick of living in pain. Thank you so much!

Hi!

Although hip bursitis can be extremely painful, many people have found relief in yoga. But, that being said it varies from person to person as to when they begin to experience more or less pain within poses. If you have been inactive for the past few years I would recommend starting with a very slow paced, easy class, or a private lesson so that you can discover your strengths and weaknesses around the condition and make the necessary adjustments. Physical therapists often incorporate yoga into their sessions, so you may be able to go that route too. Some recommended poses for this condition are Ankle to Knee Chair Pose, Side Angle Pose, Butterfly Pose and Half Lord of the Fishes Pose. Again though, what works for some, may not work for all. Good luck!

Best,
